How malaria testing can get more people back into work

Malaria is frequently cited as one of the biggest killers of young children in Africa. Yet rarely, do we hear about its impact on working-age adults and the economic impact of the disease. In a blog for The Conversation, DEGRP grant holders, Pieter Serneels (University of East Anglia), Andrew Dillon (Michigan State University) and Oladele Akogun (Modibbo Adama University of Technology) argue for work-based care for malaria testing and treatment. They draw on new DEGRP research which measured the willingness of agricultural workers to pay for malaria services at work in Nigeria.
