Third Research Call

The third DFID-ESRC Growth Research Programme call for research has closed and the grant awarded to a consortium of research organisations led by University of Birmingham business school. Their project Delivering inclusive financial development and growth aims to identify workable policies to help make the financial sector an effective instrument in promoting financial inclusion and sustained growth in low-income countries such as Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, and Zambia, and consequently create an enabling environment for transitioning these countries to middle-income status.

Second Research Call

In February 2013, DFID and ESRC announced the launch of the second call for proposals for the programme. The call closed on April 25th. Full details of the call specifications can be found on the ESRC website. Applications will be shortlisted by August 2013, and shortlisted applicants will be invited to submit full proposals by 18 October 2013.

Projects for the second DEGRP research call have now been selected and will be announced in early 2015.

First Research Call

The first DFID-ESRC Growth Research Programme call for research was launched in 2012 and is now closed and applicants have been selected. There are currently 18 projects funded under this call working in countries such as Nigeria, Bangladesh, Malawi and Tanzania.
