The past three decades have witnessed a remarkable degree of poverty reduction in China which was made possible - at least in part - by an unparalleled level of domestic economic growth and structural transformation. These developments have also helped China to emerge as a major player in the global economy.
This event examines our understanding of the relationship between China and Africa, reflect on China’s actual and potential role in the continent’s economic development and highlight priority areas that warrant further exploration. The debate will be followed by an introduction to the DFID-ESRC China-Africa Research Programme.
This meeting is an opportunity for prospective applicants to learn more about the programme and to network with others in the field.
Further information on the China-Africa Research Programme is available online here. The deadline for the call for research proposals is 13 March 2014.
